Stylish Storage Solutions for Your Room

Storage isn’t always easy to incorporate into your home décor, but there are some basic things that you can do to help your storage units blend into the rest of your decorating scheme. These simple, low cost solutions are designed to help you have all the storage that you need, without ruining your style in the process.

Hide Your Stuff

If you have a bed, closet, stairwell or empty wall space, then you have an area for storage. Some areas, such as under the bed or under the stairs, should be chosen for those items that are keepsake (think baby clothes or family heirlooms that you don’t like, but can’t get rid of) and aren’t used very often. Some items, such as Christmas decorations that are used yearly, should be kept near the front of the storage area for easy access when needed.

Be Thrifty

Some storage bins, such as cedar chests, can be part of your décor, and you can even find them in local thrift shops for less than you may find in a retail shop. You may also be able to pick up multi-functional furniture, such as window seats with built in storage, for a low cost in either a retail or thrift shop in your local area.

Cover IT Up

Another good idea is to choose stackable containers, and store them under windows that have floor to ceiling draperies. Make sure that the curtains are fairly thick, however, and that you keep the containers smaller so that they aren’t visible.
