How to Install a Japanese Bathtub

In the west, many of us are very familiar with using the ‘traditional’ western bathtubs. Why not instead try the Japanese tubs? The western style bathtubs have a very long and broad design, while the major difference between the Japanese tubs is the increased volume. This means that the walls are longer and there is more space within the tub itself. Therefore, due to this size difference there are many new factors that must be considered before installing the Japanese bathtub.

First, one should know a Japanese bathtub is not meant to be utilized for bathing purposes. Instead, a person must just lie in the bathtub and allow the water to clean the person without much effort by the person. This is due to the higher temperature of the water that is used by the bather and the ability for soap to be more effective at such a high temperature. Also, it is important to note that a person should already have showered before taking a Japanese bath.

When installing the Japanese style bathtub, a plumber is also going to be required. This is because all the back plumbing work as well as the faucets and drains that are accompanied with the old-school bathtub are no longer compatible with the modern Japanese bathtubs.

The smart choice among more modern decorators is to create a bathtub experience within the bathroom. This will mean several things. First there will be a divider that will locate the bathtub in one section of the bathroom, and the sink and toilet in another. This will be more sightly and allow the bathroom to have a more spacious feel to it – especially when you’re taking a bath! Also more people will be able to use the bathroom at the same time without having to create arguments in groggy mornings!
